2011 COSMOS Technical Session

Ground Motions from Subduction Earthquakes and Issues for Seismic Design

November 4, 2011
8:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Hilton Garden Inn
Emeryville, California

The Consortium of Organizations for Strong-Motion Observation Systems (COSMOS) held its Annual Meeting and Technical Session at the Hilton Garden Inn located in Emeryville, California, on Friday, November 4th. This year's Technical Session was again co-sponsored by the Pacific Earthquake Engineering Center and the California Geological Survey. This Technical Session provided a background on currently available subduction ground motions from the 2010 Maule, Chile, and 2011 Tohoku, Japan, megathrust earthquakes. Appropriate V/H ratios and correlation terms (required for CMS) for large subduction earthquakes that arise in current practice were presented.
