Governance
COSMOS is guided by a volunteer Board of Directors drawn from member organizations, research institutions, and practicing professionals across the strong-motion and earthquake engineering community. Board members bring experience in fields such as seismic hazard analysis, structural engineering, geotechnical engineering, and strong-motion instrumentation, and they help set the direction of COSMOS’s technical programs, publications, and annual technical session.
The Board meets periodically throughout the year to review ongoing initiatives, approve new guidelines and publications, and plan upcoming workshops and meetings. Officer positions rotate periodically to bring in fresh perspectives while maintaining continuity in COSMOS’s long-term mission.
