Annual Technical Session
Each year, COSMOS holds a Technical Session as part of its Annual Meeting, bringing together members and the broader strong-motion community for a day of presentations and discussion on a current topic in strong-motion monitoring or earthquake engineering. Past sessions have addressed subjects such as selecting and scaling ground-motion time histories for design, site-specific ground-motion procedures, and other emerging issues facing the field.
The Technical Session typically includes a program of invited talks, time for questions and discussion, and an opportunity for attendees to connect with colleagues from across the strong-motion community. COSMOS is a non-profit organization whose goal is to expand and significantly modernize the acquisition and application of strong-motion data in order to increase public safety from earthquakes.
